Thrilling cup match against Barrs Court

Despite it being the first day back after a two week holiday the team were ready to face Barrs Court in the second round of the Large School's Cup.  Victor had only just returned from a football tour in Milan with GB Futsal team but was happy to play through his tiredness.

It was a first half full of goals with Morgan opening the scoring by chipping the ball over the keeper with his weaker left foot.  Barrs Court got back in the game with two quick goals from their striker.  We fought back and Morgan forced a shot towards goal which was deflected beyond the despairing dive of the goalkeeper.  The half ended 2 2.

The second half was an end to end affair with both sides having chances to score.  Jack in our goal and their keeper pulled off several good saves and both defences worked hard to keep the scores level. It was still at the end of the second half and extra time was needed.

Despite being the stronger team throughout extra time it ended even and penalties were required, not for the first time.  In last season's cup competition and the ESFA tournament earlier this year, we have been knocked out by Barrs Court on penalties.  Morgan, Oscar and James all scored their penalties and Barrs Court only managed to score 2.  It was a hard fought victory and Hanham Abbots await in the quarter finals.
