Enrichment at Blackhorse

In addition to teaching the National Curriculum (see Curriculum pages) the school also offers an Enrichment curriculum which aims to develop children's 'Life skills'.

We believe that in order for a child to become a success in their future learning and life, it is important to actively teach these 'soft-skills'.

Therefore, every Friday between 1:15 - 2:45pm, the whole school takes part in Enrichment Afternoon.

During Enrichment Afternoon, children can choose from between 15-20 courses (run by teachers, TAs and parents) which seek to develop the life skills shown in the diagram.

Each course lasts for a term and the children are placed in mixed-age groups of between 15-25 depending on the nature of the activity. The courses cover a wide range of areas but are typically focused around areas which are difficult to teach within main curriculum time.

The school is always looking to expand the range of courses offered, so please contact the school office if you would like to get involved.
