Mission Masters 2026-2027

Our Mission Masters for this academic year have been elected following a day of speeches and voting on Thursday.

The four candidates from each class emblazoned the school with posters in the lead up to Thursday's election.

Throughout the day, Mrs Wilson visited each class where the four candidates gave their speech in person or via a pre-made video.  The children then voted individually for the person they though would best represent their views.

The first meeting will take place on Thursday 16th October and then fortnightly thereafter.

We are very excited to seeing the difference the Mission masters can make as they continue the good work of their counterparts.

School Census Day - Thursday 1 October 2026

On Thursday 1 October 2026, schools across the country will take part in the Autumn School Census. While this may seem like just another school day, the information collected on Census Day plays a significant role in determining the funding our school receives.

One of the most important pieces of information recorded is the number of children having a school meal on Census Day. This is particularly important for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, as the data collected helps to secure additional funding that directly supports teaching and learning opportunities, resources and enrichment experiences for our pupils, something we are very proud of at Blackhorse.

The more funding we receive, the more we can invest in providing the very best education and experiences for all children at Blackhorse.

To help maximise this funding, we would be extremely grateful if as many children as possible could:

· Attend school on Thursday 1 October, unless they are genuinely unwell.

· Enjoy a school meal on Census Day, including children who receive Free School Meals or Universal Infant Free School Meals in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

To make the day extra special, our catering team will be offering a revised menu of chicken bites or pizza pinwheels for Census Day and the return of the much-loved ice cream bar with sauce and toppings.

We thank you for your continued support.

Attendance Champions

It has been another strong week for attendance at Blackhorse with whole school attendance at 97.4%, which is above the 97% target we set ourselves.

An extra well done to Cherry and Chestnut, who achieved the perfect 100% this week and to Elm who had 99.2%.  In total, ten classes had attendance exceeding 97%.

It is great to see the children in school socialising with their friends and enjoying their learning.  let's keep up the great start.  Thank you for your continued support with this.

This week’s Champions!

Each week, the staff nominate one child per class who has been a model pupil, demonstrating the values which we look for in Champion Learners!
