Mission Masters 2026-27

It's that exciting  time of the year when we start the process to find our Mission Masters for the coming school year.

Our Mission Masters are elected by their classmates to represent them to help improve aspects of the school.  They meet fortnightly with Alex Wilson to carry out their work.

If your child would like to be part of the Mission Masters they need to let their class teacher know by Tuesday 15th September.  On Wednesday in class voting will take place to select four children who will be put forward for the elections.

Once chosen, the campaigning can begin.  Children can choose to present their speech in person or record it in advance.

Elections will take place on Thursday  24th September and our new Mission masters will be announced in assembly on Friday 25th September.

KS2 enjoy guitar workshop and performance

This afternoon, Key Stage 2 were treated to a fabulous workshop from the brilliant Eva Victoria Schockmel from the IGF young artist platform.

Eva is a current postgraduate scholar at The Royal College of Music and is passionate about playing and arranging work for the classical guitar.  Eva performs across Europe and has collected prizes at major competitions.

It was  another example of how we look to provide the children with opportunities they may not otherwise get to experience.

The workshop was arranged by Emily Correa and funded by the International Guitar Foundation.

PTA AGM

Our PTA is made up of parents from every year group who volunteer to organise events to bring the community together and raise much needed funds for the school.

They do a brilliant job and are always looking for new members and willing helpers to join them.

The Annual General Meeting is taking place on Thursday 17th September at 6pm.  We would like to see lots of you there.

If you would like to come but are able to do so in person you can join the meeting online by following this link.

Staff Changes

We have said goodbye to several members of staff over the summer; Kelly Lloyd and Ellie Lyle  Kelly supported children in Reception and KS1 and was one of our autism champions.  She is pursuing a career within the NHS.

Ellie supported our Resource Base children in Cherry.  She has secured an HLTA role at Iron Acton Primary.  We will miss their expertise and dedication greatly and wish them well in the next stage of their careers.

We are also saying goodbye to two of our longest serving members of staff: Kath Baker and Jacqui Hurcombe.  Kath helps prepare the meals and serves our children with a smile every day on our kitchen before caring for the children in after school club.  Kath has decided to pursue a career supporting children in care.

Jacqui has been a lunch break supervisor at Blackhorse since 2005 and in that time has supported and nurtured hundreds of children.  Jacqui has decided to hang up her apron and retire.

We would like to thank them all for their care and expertise.

Our Champion this week.

Darya in Birch is our Blackhorse Champion this week.

Miss Vigor writes, 'Darya has been absolutely fantastic with her discovery tasks this week! She did all of them by the end of Monday and then did them all again because she wanted to do them better. If this isn't a perfect example of being a Successful Samda then I don't know what is! Well done Darya! Miss Vigor and Mrs Pollock are very proud!'
