Homework 13.11.20

Below you will find the tasks to complete at home this week. If you are struggling finding time or a quiet place, please speak to your teacher as soon as possible.

Remember, your reading records will be checked on Monday and everything else on Friday.

For support with these tasks we have uploaded some videos on our Year 6 Video Channel to help; some from us and some from our colleagues in other schools.

There is a video there to help you with your spelling for next week too!

Pre-learning information

You might find some helpful tasks, activities or information that might help prepare you for your learning in the week ahead too. Have a look at what we are doing and the resources below.

Being a Mathematician

Next week we are looking at adding and subtracting fractions (and mixed numbers) with different denominators.

Try watching this to set you up to be ready to start from Monday.

Adding Fractions with Different Denominators

Before you come to this, you need to be confident making new equivalent fractions - we did this last week being a mathematician so you should have that confidence!

You might want to follow along with this song!

Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions

In case you want a reminder of how to change mixed numbers to improper fractions, watch this very short explanation. You will need this for later in the week!

Being a Writer

Next week you will be introduced to another new Year 6 writing skill - using the passive and active verbs. This BBC Bitesize page is a great start to start learning about passive and active verbs. While this Teacher Talk from BBC iPlayer is short and explains how to use them.

This link is very good for you and your parents to share, as it explains passive and active and allows you to watch this video:
