Set: 15.10.21, Due: 22.10.21
Home learning (15.10.21)
Below you will find the tasks to complete at home this week. If you are struggling finding time or a quiet place, please speak to your teacher as soon as possible.
Remember, your reading records will be checked on Monday and everything else on Friday.
Home Learning Tasks
Once you have completed these tasks, you should remember your TTRS sessions!
We check these as part of your homework too. All logins (including those for Bug Club and Big Maths) are found in your reading record.
If you need ANY HELP with these tasks, GO BACK TO LAST WEEK'S PRE-LEARNING section of the homework page for support.
Pre-learning information
These are resources are to get you ready for the week ahead... you DON'T need to record anything (unless you want) if you look through this information. Reading, watching and playing these resources will help you feel more confident about your learning next week.
You might find some helpful tasks, activities or information that might help prepare you for your learning in the week ahead too. Have a look at what we are doing and the resources below.
Being a Writer (English)
Next week, we will get our creative writing juices going when we write the following:
- a persuasive advert advertising the alchemist's gold-making machine
- a non-chronological report about the machine
It would be helpful to prepare for this by watching the video again from last week thinking of these tasks.
SPaG Focus
Next week we are reminding ourselves all about brackets and dashes used for parenthesis from Year 5 and use them in our Year 6 writing.
It might be good to look back over any work from lockdown, where you studied using these punctuation marks. Try watching and looking at these resources too!
Have a look at this 'Parenthesis Revision Card' from our Year 6 Writer's Toolkit - scroll to the bottom of the toolkit.
Being a Mathematician
We will be looking at dividing 3 and 4-digit numbers by two-digit numbers, e.g. 720 shared into 15 equal groups.
Watching the very short explanation videos in the Year 6 video channel will also help prepare you for dividing next week.
If you click on this link to take you back to the Year 6 class page, you'll find under year group documents 'Division Methods in Year 6' which shows you how we divide at Blackhorse - turn to page 11 - 16. It would be good to remind yourselves what you have done in the past.
Practising more times tables knowledge on TTRS will help so much, as we will be using those facts as part of division too, of course!
