How our Curriculum Builds Champion Learners
Our curriculum aims to ‘Build champion learners’, reflecting our vision and ethos.
We believe that children become ‘Champion Learners’ when given: extensive opportunity, expert tuition, purposeful practice and learn how to sustain personal effort. Our curriculum is structured around these key ‘active ingredients’.
The curriculum is all the planned activities that we organise in order to build Champion Learners. It includes not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum, but also the range of extra-curricular activities that the school organises in order to enrich the opportunities available to the children. It also includes the ‘Values curriculum’: or what the children learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave. We aim to teach children how to grow into positive, hard-working, responsible people, who can work and co-operate with others while developing knowledge and skills, so that they can become their ‘best self’.
You can find out more about our curriculum by speaking to your child's class teacher. If you wish to know more about how the curriculum is adapted to support children with SEND, please contact our school SENDCO, Claire Deacon, via the school office. Alternatively, information about supporting children with SEND is available here.
